Qualifications required to become an interior designer

1. Diploma in Interior Design course

1. Bsc in Interior design –

This is a three-year program which is offered by JD Institute in affiliation with Bengaluru city university The program introduces students to the varied methodologies that inform the practice of interior design and supports the inquiry of understanding the connection between man, space, and therefore the built environment. Emphasizing the event of a sensitive approach to style to conceive a practice that enhances human activities, the program follows a pedagogy that integrates theory and practice enquiring how they inform one another for enabling a holistic approach to conception and making.

The program is one of its kind specially curated for students who are interested in design where the students develop the ability to comprehend contemporary aspects of interior design through practical and theoretical projects, along with critical analysis of their own as well as peer work. The course focuses on the integral elements of Interior Design and Decoration such as color and lighting, furniture in interiors, floriculture and landscaping, consumer and Merchandising, etc.

2. Advanced diploma in design –

This is also a three-year program and even though it has a diploma in its name the curriculum is at par with bachelor’s level and the length too. It contains six semesters, two each year and everyone who has graduated with 10+2 from any stream is eligible. It helps the students gain a thorough understanding of the constantly evolving landscape of interior design by keeping in mind the varying tastes and preferences of different demographics, cultures, and heritage.   1. Masters Level –
  1. MSc in interior design

This is a two-year program the basic eligibility for it is graduation in any stream, MSc. in Interior Design equips students to identify the current and potential concerns of the interior design industry and offer adaptive and efficient solutions that enhance its practice. As India has been constantly witnessing an increase in demand due to the ever-increasing population and the supply levels currently are being tested time and again, the interior design industry of the country is currently experiencing an evolution that promises immense career opportunities and an expanded scope for experimentation and innovation. 

During the course, the students learn a lot through peer-to-peer learning which helps them know about different people and also the different states in India. The students design spaces that complement the daily navigation of human life through a methodology that is functional, aesthetic, responsible, and responsive.
